Hi friends and Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend. On this weekend filled with Earth Day activities and Science March events, I’ve been thinking a lot about science.
Disclaimer – I’m not a science guy. Big shock, I know.
Despite the fact I barely managed a C in Chemistry as a junior in high school, I still think science is way too cool, and not just because of Thomas Dolby’s awesome song “She Blinded Me With Science,” which came out when I was struggling with Chemistry.
On a more serious note, I can’t help wondering where I would be today without the amazing advances our world has seen thanks to science.
I have depression. If I hadn’t gotten on antidepressants, would I have followed through on the suicidal thoughts I had back in 2011?
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. If she hadn’t had access to medical treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, or been treated by amazing doctors, would she have survived?
And on a lighter note, if we didn’t have amazing technology like wi-fi and YouTube, how would my fifteen year old survive?
Seriously though, I simply think science, whether it be medical or technological or agricultural is truly awe-inspiring and I’m so thankful we live in a world where we can experience the wonders of science every day.
As for me, my favorite piece of “science” right now is the mind-blowing things SpaceX is doing with its reusable Falcon 9 rocket. To be able to launch a rocket and then guide it back to Earth safe and sound? Simply incredible.
How about you? What’s your favorite “science” thing? Let me know. Until next time, wishing you sunny skies and warm breezes!
